Friday Series: Pink Skies Before Sunrise in Bucks County, Pennsylvania

As we move into June, and the days are significantly longer, it becomes far more challenging for me to photograph the beautiful time before sunrise, when we often see lovely, peaceful pink skies. For instance, today's sunrise in Bucks County was at 5:30 am, which is challenging even for an early riser, like me. By contrast, for most of the period between September and March, the sunrise is between 6:40 and 7:20 am. Today's Friday series theme is "Pink Skies Before Sunrise in Bucks County, Pennsylvania." I have included of the Delaware River and it's bridges, Wasington Crossing Historic Park, Patterson Farm (Yardley), Lake Afton (Yardley) and the Lumberville-Raven Rock Bridge.

Friday Series: Spring 2025 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania

Spring is a beautiful time in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, as trees turn green, and daffodils and other flowers put on their seasonal show. This week's Friday Series theme is "Spring 2025 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania." I made photo trips to several of the county's covered bridges (Loux, Sheard's Mill, Moods, and Schofield Ford), as well as some other favorite spots, including: Cuttalossa Farm (Solebury), Washington Crossing Historic Park, Lake Afton (Yardley), Ralph Stover State Park (Pipersville), etc. Here are a few of my spring, 2025 photos of Bucks County, all taken within the past five or six weeks. As always, I am curious if you have any favorites.

Spring Sunrise Photograph at Bucks County’s Thompson-Neely House, Washington Crossing Historic Park

These days, there is no shortage of photographic equipment which one can purchase. One thing you won't find in any camera store is patience. About a week ago, I made several early morning photo stops, and my last one (at about 7:15 or 7:30 am) was the historic Thompson-Neely House, in the northern section of Washington Crossing Historic Park. I wanted to photograph the rising sun, through the trees and behind the house. The sun, however, was too high in the sky, and the trees were blowing a bit too much in the morning breeze. The next day, I went back to the same spot, about 45 minutes earlier. Patience (and persistence) paid off. At about 6:45 am, the sun was positioned just right, there was less breeze, and (as a bonus) this sheep posed just long enough for me to take three exposures, which I merged into this HDR (high dynamic range) photograph.

These days, the historic house has a quiet, peaceful feeling. However, in December of 1776, George Washington’s troops were encamped on the property prior to the famous crossing of the Delaware River, and the Battle of Trenton. The house was used as a field hospital at the time, and one of the officers who received treatment here was future president James Monroe.

Introduction to My Website’s “Photo Galleries”

This website, Joshfriedmanphotography.net , showcases some of the photographs that I have taken over the past 15 years. As you visit the site, the menu at the top has a category called "Photo Galleries." If you click on that, there is a drop down menu, with different categories of photographs, which include four Bucks County, Pennsylvania galleries (one for each season), in addition to: U.S. National Parks; Europe; U.S. Cities; U.S. Monuments & Battlefields; and Beaches/Ocean. In this blog post, I have included one image from each of these categories. In this post, I have included one photograph from each “gallery.” I invite you to click on some of the galleries to explore my images. While my subjects vary, I am often attracted to moments of serenity, with interesting light or weather conditions.
